Infocast’s Microgrid Markets Summit East Announces Addition of U.S. DOE/MIT Microgrid Controller Demonstration and New Speakers

Infocast, a world leading business intelligence and networking events producer in renewable energy finance, investment, and development is excited to announce a new additions to the upcoming Microgrid Markets Summit East, scheduled for March 16-18, 2016 in Arlington, VA.

Utility engineers face significant challenges in evaluating the potential safety and reliability impacts of new distribution system control technologies – such as microgrids, distributed energy resources, self-healing technologies – on their systems. This is especially true when proprietary vendor control software is operating or multiple resources are responding simultaneously. Advances in real-time simulation together with controller hardware-in-the-loop can provide real answers on power system controls behavior and a lower cost solution than traditional demonstration projects.

At Infocast’s Microgrid Markets Summit East, Erik Limpaecher, Assistant Group Leader at MIT Lincoln Laboratory will perform a demonstration of real-time microgrid controller operations. The interactive demonstration will show commercial microgrid controllers operating real genset and battery controllers in real-time on a simulated 10MW microgrid and will introduce a new tool usable by utility engineers, project developers, and systems engineer.

In addition to the controller demonstration, the Microgrid Markets Summit East has also recently added the following lineup of speakers: Dan T. Ton of the US DOE, Tim Tetreault of the DOD, Michael Stadler of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Neal Bartek of Dan Diego Gas & Electric, Michael Yambrach of Montgomery County, Maryland, Sudipta Lahiri or DNV GL – Energy, Christopher B. Berendt of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, and Kevin Meagher of Power Analytics Corporation.
